Assel has over 17 years of experience specializing in antitrust law. Her experience includes, among other things, conducting economic analysis of companies’ financial and business activities, assessing commodity markets, performing related calculations, support in the implementation of an antimonopoly compliance, and advising on and preparing legal opinions on various aspects of the application of the competition law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This includes issues related to anti-competitive agreements, monopoly and dominant positions, economic concentration, unfair competition, antitrust investigations, as well as interaction with competition authorities.
Prior to joining the team at Zan Hub, Assel worked at the antimonopoly authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including in senior positions within the regional department responsible for investigating violations of antimonopoly legislation.

Practical experience
- Preparing legal opinions on various antitrust matters, as well as drafting and submitting applications and notifications to the antitrust authority in relation to economic concentration transactions.
- Conducting economic analysis and calculations, including analysis of companies’ financial and business activities and assessment of various commodity markets.
- Participating in preparation of antitrust compliance policies and internal compliance acts as well as conducting antitrust trainings.
- Advising companies on competition law compliance, prevention of antitrust risks, and the development of internal procedures to ensure adherence to competition regulation.
- Participating in court proceedings related to investigations of violations of antitrust law, including cartel cases and abuse of dominant position.
