Astana, Kazakhstan - Madiyar Bekturganov, Zan Hub law firm partner, participated on the working group meeting to discuss the development of the capacity power market held by Atameken, chaired by Mr Satkaliyev A.M. and Radostovets N.V.
The key representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Samruk Energy JSC, KEGOC JSC, Eurasian Group LLP, KazZink LLP, Kazakhmys Energy LLP participated in the discussions.
The Government introduced changes and amendments into the Power Law dated 2012 and 2015 aiming for establishing regulatory framework for a capacity market for contracting electricity production capacities aimed at ensuring there will be sufficient reliable capacity. There is a proposal for introduction of the sole capacity market as of 2019. These introductions are effective mechanism of investments in power industry, and as a result reliability of power sector.
